The City of Branson’s Board of Aldermen promoted Stanley Dobbins from Police Chief to City Administrator. The promotion takes effect on January 1, 2018. Mr. Dobbins has served in dual roles as both the interim City Administrator as well as Police Chief since May 24, 2017, following the departure of former City Administrator William Malinen.

“The Board of Aldermen selected Stan Dobbins to fill the role of City Administrator because of the excellent leadership skills he exhibited while serving in dual roles of Interim City Administrator and Chief of Police since May 2017,” said Mayor Karen Best. “He knows the goals of the community, City staff, and the Board of Aldermen; therefore, he can hit the ground running. Most importantly for me, Interim City Administrator Dobbins LOVES Branson and is proud to call it home. He is committed to economic development, safety and security, fiscal responsibility, and preserving the legacy of the Ozarks.”

Interim City Administrator and Police Chief Dobbins said, “I am truly humbled to be selected to serve this great community that I have come to love and am proud to call home. The citizens of this community are like family to me, and I have taken great pride in maintaining the safety of both our residents, businesses and guests. I look forward to my new role here at the City, and the task of working with the Mayor, Board, City employees, residents, and visitors to this wonderfully unique community to make it a great place to visit, live, and work.”

The City will soon begin a nationwide search for a new Police Chief to fill Dobbins’ vacancy once he assumes that role of City Administrator in January.

Chief Dobbins who has more than 37 years of experience in law enforcement, came to the City in 2012, first as Assistant Police Chief. He remained in that role until 2016, when he was promoted to Police Chief after the retirement of former Chief Kent Crutcher.

A Lawson, Missouri native, Dobbins was with the police department at Gladstone, Missouri for 27 years before coming to the City of Branson. Dobbins earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Park University and a Master’s degree in Sociology/Criminal Justice Administration from Lincoln University. He graduated at the top of his class as Valedictorian at the FBI National Academy as well as Valedictorian and Dean’s Scholar at the Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville.
